Do I need insulation for my cabin?Updated 2 days ago

Whether you need insulation depends on how you plan to use your cabin.

If your cabin is mainly for occasional use, storage, or during warmer months, insulation isn’t essential. However, if you’re planning to use your cabin regularly, especially throughout autumn and winter, insulation makes a big difference.

Adding floor and roof insulation helps retain heat, reduce draughts, and keep the internal temperature more stable. In the summer months, it also helps regulate the temperature by slowing down heat transfer, keeping the inside cooler and more comfortable.

This makes the space far more usable all year round for things like a home office, gym, or garden room, while also helping to reduce heating costs.

It’s also worth considering insulation at the point of purchase, as it would require dismantling the building to install the flooring insulation.

In simple terms, you don’t always need insulation but if you want to get the most use out of your cabin throughout the year, it’s a worthwhile upgrade.
