3D Log Cabin Configurator
A step-by-step guide to creating, customising and saving your cabin design
The configurator opens with a blank 4190 x 4190 mm (14 x 14 ft) Apex (Chalet) cabin. Work through the Style, Partitions, and Doors and windows tabs to create your preferred layout.

1. Start your design and move around the cabin
Select Start configuring to open the 3D design screen.
The configurator opens with a blank 14 x 14 ft Apex (Chalet) cabin.
Use your mouse to change the view
Mouse control | What it does |
Left-click and drag | Rotate the cabin through 360 degrees. |
Right-click and drag | Move the view left, right, up or down. |
Scroll wheel | Zoom in for detail or zoom out for an overall view. |
Use the toolbar
- Use the lower-left buttons for full screen, camera reset, sharing, measurement units, undo and redo.
- Switch between External, Interior and Top View using the buttons in the lower centre.
- Select Start again in the top-left corner if you want to clear the design and begin again.
2. Choose the cabin style and size
The Style tab opens by default. Use it to choose the roof type, set the cabin dimensions and select the available construction options.
Choose Style, Partitions, or Doors and windows from the right-hand toolbar.

Set the cabin dimensions
Move the sliders or type the required measurement into each box. Sizes change in 300 mm (approximately 1 ft) increments, for example from 4190 mm (14 ft) to 4490 mm (15 ft).

Use the sliders or enter the dimensions manually.
Automatic structural changes: If a cabin dimension exceeds 5990 mm (20 ft), the configurator adds a required partial partition. For cabins above 6290 x 4490 mm (21 x 15 ft), the cabin height increases by 112 mm because a different log layout is required. A notice appears in the lower-left corner when either change is applied. |
Choose overhang, log thickness and insulation
- Front overhang: keep the standard overhang or select None.
- Log thickness: choose 44 mm or 28 mm. The largest available 28 mm cabin is 4190 x 4190 mm (14 x 14 ft).
- Insulation: add floor and roof insulation pack to the order. The insulation is not shown on the 3D cabin model.
3. Add and position partitions
Open the Partitions tab. The configurator switches to Top View and displays a + inside the cabin. Partitions run parallel to the gable end of the cabin.

Add and edit a wall
- Select the + to add a partition in the centre of the available space.
- Drag the four-arrow handle to move the partition, or enter the distance from the internal wall in the measurement boxes.
- After deselecting a partition, select the small white dot in its centre to edit it again.
- Use the additional + controls beside the handle to add another partition where enough space is available.
Partition spacing: Allow at least 1200 mm between partition walls. The configurator will restrict positions that do not leave enough space. |
Full and partial partitions
For cabins over 20 ft, you can change up to two required partition walls from Full to Partial where the option is available. The wall-style control appears in the right-hand panel while the partition is selected.
4. Add doors and windows
Open the Doors and windows tab. A + appears on each external wall and on any full partition wall.
Select a + on the wall where you want to add an item.
Add an item
- Select the + on the required wall.
- Choose Door or Window. A uPVC double door or uPVC window is added to the centre of the wall by default.
- Keep the item selected to move it, change its options or add another item beside it.
Move, add or remove an item
- Drag the four-arrow handle to move the selected door or window along the wall.
- Use the measurement boxes at the base of the cabin for an exact position.
- Select the bin icon to remove the item.
- Use the additional + controls to add another door or window where enough wall space is available.
Positioning limits: Doors and windows must remain at least 300 mm from the end of the log, or 161 mm from a partition wall. |
Change the item options and spacing
- Use the right-hand panel to change the door or window size, type and style.
- Turn on Center wall items horizontally to space all doors and windows evenly along that wall. The same control is available for each full wall (including partitions).
- If automatic centring is off, later changes to the cabin size may be limited because the items remain in fixed positions.
5. Review, save or order your design
When you are happy with the design, select Summary beside the total price in the lower-right corner.
Review and save the design
- Check the base dimensions, external dimensions, selected parts and total price.
- Select the email icon to send yourself a quote. The email contains a link that lets you return to the design later.
- Share the link with someone else or send it to us if you would like help with the design. Include the configuration reference so we can locate it.
Saved-link behaviour: If you edit the design after requesting a quote, the link in the earlier email will open the latest version of that design. This may not apply if the same design is being edited in more than one browser tab. |
Place your order
Use the controls at the bottom of the Summary page to email the design or add it to your cart.
Select Add to cart to continue to the website basket and complete your order.
