What is the difference between a Pent roof and an Apex roof?Updated 18 days ago
We offer most of our buildings with either a Pent or Apex style roof.
Pent Roof Design:
- A pent roof features a single slope which provides more headroom on one side, typically above the doorway.
- It is considered a modern option and is ideal for positioning under trees, down the side of your house or along fence lines due to its lower profile on one side.
Apex Roof Design:
- An apex roof has a central peak which offers additional headroom along the middle of the building.
- The doors are usually located at one of the gable ends, often with an overhang for added rain coverage. This design is more traditional and provides a classic look.
Both roof types have their unique benefits that cater to different preferences and practical considerations. Consider your space, aesthetic desires, and budget when deciding between the two.
Pent Roof:
Modern Appearance: A pent roof provides a sleek, modern look and is often favored for contemporary settings.
Ease of Construction: Due to its single slope design, it can be easier to construct.
Efficient Rainwater Runoff: The single slope facilitates runoff on one side, allowing you complete control over where the water goes!
Apex Roof:
Classic Aesthetic: The traditional look is commonly associated with garden buildings, offering a timeless appeal.
Central Peak for Height: Provides extra headroom along the central line of the shed, which can be beneficial for taller storage options.
Improved Weather Resistance: Its peak design helps the roof handle snow and rain more effectively by allowing them to slide off both sides.
